A Green Grass Straw
Teach 100 farmers to harvest and produce green grass straws. Setup direct supply chains between farmer and businesses. This grant is designed to jump start the grass straw alternative and to lower the price per straw to make it competitive with plastic straws.
Grant Amount: $28,000

Education
650,000 kg of plastic saved per year in perpetuity with this one grant. 7 teachers will be hired to teach in Saigon, Dalat and Danang. They will teach in schools and businesses. If they decide to reduce their own waste they will conduct follow-ups with them each month.

Project 1: A green grass straw
Plastic straws are a leading cause of unnecessary pollution. To stop their use we need an alternative suitable for mass adoption.
We believe Co Bang grass straws are a promising alternative. They can be cut and used fresh as drinking straws. It is easy to grow and very cost effective.
