The project created thanks to the collaboration of the artist Von Wong & Zero Waste Saigon and sponsored by Starbucks Vietnam is moving from Vietnam to a new home, a new owner! (maybe you?)

Strawpocalypse, a 3.3m (10 ft+) tall artwork representing the Parting of the Plastic Sea, is famous for its Guiness World Record. Indeed, it was made of 168,000 used plastic straws collected by Von Wong, the Zero Waste Saïgon team and also volunteers in HCMC, Hanoi, Vung Tau, Dalat and Nha Trang.

During these two months of exhibition, the daily average group of 1000 persons spent over 74 seconds interacting with the installation with 44% of participants taking a photograph. Moreover, 90% of surveyed participants who interacted with the installation said that the artwork changed their mindset about single-use-plastics, which was one of its purposes.

To date, the video has gotten over four million views on Facebook alone, with an engagement of over 460,350. The artwork received shoutouts from major conservationists Greenpeace, WWF, National Geographic and celebrities like George Takei. Even more, it was covered by dozens of publications spanning five different continents.

The disassembling was a private event, supported by Pendolasco, an eco-friendly restaurant, which gave us free pizza. A very good address for all those who are looking to eat in a place that respects the environment and uses as little plastic as possible (and their pizza are delicious!).

And to go with the food, The Beer Fridge was also part of it, since they offered us beers to remain energetic! Beers delivered in a cooler, perfect for your crazy evenings.

Thank you to all the volunteers!
